    okay let’s see:
    1. discussion settings:

    Default article settings
    ✔ Attempt to notify any blogs linked to from the article
    ✔ Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks) on new articles
    ✔ Allow people to post comments on new articles

    X Comment author must fill out name and email
    ✔ Users must be registered and logged in to comment
    ✔ Automatically close comments on articles older than days
    X Show comments cookies opt-in checkbox.
    ✔ Enable threaded (nested) comments 5 levels deep
    ✔ Break comments into pages with 50 top level comments per page and the last page displayed by default
    Comments should be displayed with the older comments at the top of each page

    Email me whenever
    X Anyone posts a comment
    X A comment is held for moderation

    Before a comment appears
    X Comment must be manually approved
    X Comment author must have a previously approved comment

    Set individual doc comment settings to allow reading and posting via the following settings:
    -Who can read comments on this doc? (anyone or logged-in)
    …you mean the ‘allow comments’ option, right? ✔
    -Who can post comments on this doc? (anyone or logged-in) ✔

    Is it possible for you to switch themes temporarily to see if your theme is adding some comment logic? (What theme are you using?)
    I use the cartel theme. okay, let’s try to switch it to the ‘twenty nineteen’

    I feel so much appreciation for you (sorry for my english), that you found the solution. but I now I am frustrated, that I can not use cartel anymore (can I?). life can be hard sometimes 😉
    I really want this theme so muchmuchmuch!!

    you know any free themes similar to cartel?
    …different topic I know but you seem to be a cool guy who knows some cool themes

    anyway, you deserve a million thankyous for you fast & amazing help, you wordpress profs are the BEST!!
