I had this problem after upgrading to 3.0. Photoclasshero’s method solved it.
AddType x-mapp-php5 .php
I’m using 1&1 and I added the above line at the top of my .htaccess in the root directory only and it fixed the issue.

I tried to change the date format in my settings, but that doesn’t work for the archive display.
Any ideas? Any help would be much appreciated!
Sorry I’m a newbie- can you tell me how to rename it in the database? Do I have to edit a php file?
