Grrrr….
I replaced the .htaccess file with an EMPTY / BLANK .htaccess file and made it writable.
Went to the permalinks settings and changed them, it said “Permalink structure updated.”
went and tested it on the site, and it still breaks everything.
what is the problem?!

nazcar – I did that as well. Through FTP I made the .htaccess writable and updated my permalink settings…and….no love. It updated .htaccess, but still did not work correctly.
