After considering your last message regarding the login problem I looked in phpMyAdmin at the users and realized there was a totally different user name with an email that didn’t work. After I changed the email address in phpMyAdmin, I reset the password again with the other username, and all is well.

So, per your advice, WPyogi, I am backing up AND updating immediately. Thank you so much for helping me figure this out.

Thank you for your help and for the guides! I am not sure but as usual I ended up screwing everything up.

I think I backed up though per your instructions! It’s a good thing I have wine right now.

Thanks again. If I can’t get it together I will also check with JustHost but I am afraid they’ll tell me it’s an issue I had with WP.

Have a good rest of the evening/day.

I just kept selecting the change password option until it finally took. Which incidentally, was probably the 400th time they emailed the link.

Okay, going to google how to do everything else you told me to do without being able to use my WP dashboard. I have the WP update, could you tell me which folder that needs to be in?

    Thanks for your help,

It’s deactivated but doesn’t activate the other theme. Just appears blank and twentytwelve is in there.

I tried a different browser. Not sure what I’m doing wrong.

I deactivated everything to see if it changed the dashboard and then reactivated. When I deactivated the theme the site just went blank.

Do you want me to deactivate everything again?

    Thanks

Yes, it’s working otherwise. I just can’t get to anything through the dashboard.

I have tried that also. The site just went blank completely until I renamed it but the dashboard is still empty. I don’t have any options to create posts or anything.

Thanks, I finally did figure that out and deactivated the plugins but my dashboard didn’t come back. Is there anything else I can try?

    Thanks for your help!

OMG I’m silly. Everything works fine now. You are my hero and you have saved me from completely messing up more stuff!

    Thank you so much!
