In reply to: [Prime Mover - Migrate WordPress Website & Backups] Ten starsThank you for the 5-star Prime Mover plugin! We are happy to know that the plugin is working great in your projects. Cheers!
Hi Wyatt,
Thank you for using the Prime Mover plugin and sharing your experience. Below are some thoughts we had regarding your feedback:
However, it’s quite inconvenient because you have to install WordPress first, unlike Duplicator, which doesn’t require this step.
Comment: Yes, that’s correct. Prime Mover was designed to be like this for the following reasons:
- Efficiency: Packages must be as efficient and lightweight as possible. Only containing the essentials (the site data itself). Therefore, we exclude the WordPress installation for lighter packages.
- Reduce redundancy: WordPress is known for preserving backward compatibility – so exclude the core versions themselves because administrators can easily launch fresh installations these days (via hosting panels, auto-WP installers, etc.), and due to backward compatibility ( stability is preserved from export to restore). This avoids redundancy by including the core files in the package.
- Portability: Prime Mover packages can be restored anywhere,- including multisites. So, the packages need to be as portable as possible. By excluding WordPress core files – single-site data and its files can be easily portable to a multisite installation and vice versa. It is because we know internally that these core installations differ in structure (e.g., WordPress multisite databases are structured differently than single-site databases) as well as their files and configurations (e.g., wp-config, etc.). Excluding the core installations and structure could simplify any migration (e.g., from single-site to multisite, multisite to multisite, multisite to single-site, single-site to single-site) – making it more portable across the board.
- Security: WordPress core files can be hacked (or edited maliciously) without the user knowing it -we want the packages to be as secure as possible. By forcing users to install clean WordPress installations before any migration or restoration, it ensures that restored packages are as clean and malware-free as possible.

Additionally, if your admin details aren’t the same on the other side, the plugin forces you to reinstall WordPress, which is something it never warned me about beforehand.
Comment: This is strange – could you please provide a screenshot that indicates Prime Mover is “forcing” the reinstallation of WordPress? As far as we know about this – Prime Mover will perform a user difference check during import, which is “optional” and can be disabled (using a setting). The user difference check may recommend a fresh install, but a user can override this. A warning dialog is displayed to inform the user of this.
User difference check is an important feature that aligns the source site users’ IDs with those of the target site users. This feature was first introduced in Prime Mover 2.0.3, which you can read the details here.
Thank you again for leaving your review. We are glad it got the job done! Cheers.
Thanks for the question! Yes, this is already implemented as it is. When you export a subsite, it only includes activated plugins (and won’t include deactivated plugins for that site).
For details – please check out this FAQ. Thanks again!

Hi Martin, Thanks for sharing the update. It’s great to hear that it’s finally working on your end. Cheers!
Hello Martin,
Thank you for using the Prime Mover plugin! I’m sorry you have issues managing the plugins/themes after migration. To resolve this, please refer to this complete tutorial.
The above solution should allow you to restore the administrator capabilities required to manage plugins/themes.
If the above tutorial does not work, please provide us the site information log, which can be generated by going: Prime Mover -> Advanced -> Advanced Settings Panel -> Upload/Download Parameters -> Export site info, and click “Export site info “
Please send it via our contact form here. We will then re-open this ticket to track the progress of the investigation. Thank you!

In reply to: [Prime Mover - Migrate WordPress Website & Backups] Cant access PRO featuresWe have received your request for PRO technical support in our system. We have fixed this issue on your site and activated the PRO license. The licensing data is a bit old, and the Freemius system has undergone several changes since it was last activated. The data has become outdated, so we have to reset it.
This is now fully working on your site. We are closing this ticket in ww.wp.xz.cn because PRO tech support is prohibited here. Please contact our PRO tech support if you have any questions or need assistance. Thank you!

In reply to: [Prime Mover - Migrate WordPress Website & Backups] Flawless! We are glad to hear that! Thank you for taking the time to leave a 5-star review. Cheers!
Hello Karlo, thank you for using the Prime Mover plugin! Regarding your question, I’m sorry, but no function can auto-create packages that can be called by third-party code.
However, the PRO version has a feature that automatically creates backup packages. You can run these backups automatically based on preferred schedules per site (if multisite). You can also configure the backup to be only a database or a complete package.
Automatic backups can support all PRO/FREE features. For more details on the automatic backup feature, please see here.
Since this is a PRO feature, we cannot support it on ww.wp.xz.cn. If you have further questions regarding this PRO feature, please send your inquiry through our official contact form. So I’m closing here, thanks!
Thank you for the feedback. For the first issue, the SQL query is coming from the Freemius SDK library. We created a dedicated ticket for that here so Freemius developers will be aware of it and investigate it. Feel free to add more details on the GitHub ticket if needed.
The second issue should be handled with the latest versions of the Prime Mover plugin (Prime Mover 2.0.4/Prime Moer 2.0.5 beta (link shared above). In our tests here, as long as the proper uninstallation procedure is followed, the options (including
prime_mover_in_progress_packages, etc.) should be removed from the database. It also deletes those folders as long as no backup remains. Manually deleting those folders or options is no longer required. For your update, thanks again for all the information and feedback!
