Silly but may be the problem, did you make sure you were editing in “visual” and not “text”?

Didn’t delete the .htaccess file but did reset the permalinks (which in case anyone is wondering is as easy as clicking “save” on your current settings) and everything works perfect – THANK YOU! Appreciate the quick reply.
