Thanks, I thought it would be YouTube 🙁
The second image I uploaded is the same frame, it IS the thumbnail, just showing at higher quality after the video has played once (even after page reload). I guess it’s because there’s already an established connection with YouTube and they know I can handle HD.
Thanks for the link, but I don’t know how to code, have I got to change the code of your plugin?
It’s that actual home page of my website, not just a landing page and I have videos on other pages too (but they are smaller and the low quality is not as obvious). What I meant was these pages with videos will generally be the first page new users land on so they need to be perfect.
When screen first loads (poor quality): http://picturepush.com/public/12820076
then click play, watch a little bit, then re-load the page and the quality is fine: http://picturepush.com/public/12820090
first impression is important as that is a main landing page so I want that thumbnail to load in high quality the first time the user visits, could it be youtube deciding the quality based on connection speed?
The site is in ‘maintenance mode’ so I need to give you a login to view the live page, I don’t mind that but I can’t post that publicly, can we send private messages on this forum?
Do you have an email address I can send the screenshot to? so I can show you what I mean?

Thanks for fast response.
Ah ok,
I checked the URL from source code and it’s;
http://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/MSYcTJ6qaLc?rel=0&autohide=1&hd=1&iv_load_policy=3&wmode=transparent&modestbranding=1&autoplay=0So that means all videos I embed with this shortcode will have:
related videos off
autohide on
HD on
transparent mode on
modestbranding on
autoplay offCorrect?
That’s not bad, the only thing I would add is ‘control bar off’ but I can live without that 🙂

<li>as it breaks the formatting if you do not wrap it with<ul>or<ol>. ]<li>"Also why you ask me for a list of youtube parameters here?"</li> --I thought you might have way to add them to the shortcode :-) ..no problem. The only thing that’s bugging me now is that before you click play, the video thumbnail looks really low quality, then goes to HD when you click play, anything I can do about that?
FYI – I’m using one of the 3 thumbnails offered by YouTube.
