Nextgen not working after upgrading to wordpress 3.4 for me too. When I try to upload photos, I have :
ERROR: 0_vectorized1.png :
Warning: opendir(/homez.429/XXX/www//entrainement-11-07-12) [function.opendir]: failed to open dir: No such file or directory in /homez.429/XXX/www/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/admin/functions.php on line 237
Erreur, le fichier n’a pas pu être déplacé vers :/homez.429/XXX/www//entrainement-11-07-12/0_vectorized1.pngI haven’t problem with the avatar.
For me the plugin works with v.3.4.1. There is no problem.

My problem occured after update to Wordpres 3.4 too.
I have the same problem on my website Arles-Avignon.com, the page isn’t refreshed, and people can’t registrer.
