In reply to: Online course plugin?Check out: WP-Members (free) or WP-Member.com (paid, but very reasonable)
I am in the process of putting together an online “School” for real estate agents to take their CEU’s via online video instruction.
I haven’t used either of the above plugins, so I’d like to hear your experience and anything that would be useful for an online video training fee based school.

In reply to: [Redirection] Redirection plug in step by step neededAnthony,
Yup– that should work just fine. The Redirection plug in will mask any URL you want to change the appearance for.

In reply to: [Redirection] Redirection plug in step by step neededNever mind– I was correct– I was very close. What I love about WP is that, though it is very powerfull, and at times complicated, with a little bit more thought I can usually get done what I need to.
Here’s my step by step for using the “Redirection” plug in– works great!
Setting up “Redirection” plug in to mask affiliate links:
1 In WP Control panel, Click “Links”> “New”
2 Create a link category called “Recommended”
3 Create a link that has the URL name you WANT visitors to see—in the “Recommended” category: make sure link is set to “public”
4 Install the link just created in the “Recommended” category on the page/ pages & locations you prefer
4 Go to Plugins> Redirection> Settings> Add new redirection
5 Source URL: the name I gave the newly created link
6 Target: the actual affiliate link
7 :Set:
Match to “URL only
Action to “Redirect only”
Leave Regular expression UNCHECKED
8 test links to verify the affiliate link is masked and goes to affiliate site
9 Test order the product, to verify you are given credit for referralForum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Changing sidebar line spacing & fixing no content display in IEThanks, kmessinger– you were right.
Got it fixed by looking at the html view in the WP “Edit page” view and eliminating the unbelievable amount of garbage code there from Word formatting (in spite of pasting it from NotePad) and then pasting the content from Note Pad into the page edit view.
Also got the line height issue for the sidebar column outbound links resolved by adding line height=110% instead of a pixel size based height.
Actually, my son did both of these in about 20 minutes. Nice to have a pro programmer.
Thanks for pointing us in the right direction. Phew.. now to get on to adding conten to the site.

In reply to: Changing sidebar line spacing & fixing no content display in IEI just pasted the info from Word, using the “paste from Word” button in WP– that didn’t work.
I then pasted from Word to NotePad, then to WP, using the “Paste as plain text” button in WP. That didn’t work, either, and actually changed the font and the line spacing, leaving me unable to change the line spacing on the text. (can change it in the WP editor, but it doesn’t display with the edited spacing after updating the page)
Arrgghhhhh.. what gives?
Probably something very, very simple I am doing or not doing that I don’t see.
Help anyone?!

In reply to: Changing sidebar line spacing & fixing no content display in IEThanks.
Hmmm… If I copied from original Word doc, then paste it into NotePad, then copy & paste from NotePad to WP, it should have eliminated the Word code, correct?
What you see there now is a previous version I re-installed after I couldn’t get IE to display the content, even though it had been pasted from NotePad.
I’ll try it again. <sigh>
This is my first foray into WP, CSS and PHP. Please be gentle. 😉
.. and thanks for your assistance. I’ll get it eventually.

In reply to: Changing sidebar line spacing & fixing no content display in IEHmmm… I did that already (I assume you mean the “paste from Word” button in WP “Edit page” itself) and no joy.

In reply to: Sidebar spacing question.. (something missing from style.css?)How do I set the line height between out bound links in a side bar?
Which specific file do I need to edit and what specific command do I use (with numerical value) to get single spacing between the sidebar links?

In reply to: Internet Explorer display problem<My site displays fine in FireFox, but the static page content doesn’t display at all in IE.
I tried pasting copy from Word, using the Advanced WP Editor, but that didn’t work either. Also tried pasting from both Wordpad & Notepad, but both of them changed the font from Ariel 12 to Verdana 10.>
esmi,
Notepad is a text editor and, as I posted above, I have tried it & no joy.
Other suggestions?

In reply to: Internet Explorer display problemIridiax,
I tried Qumana, but realized it is designed to publish new POSTS only to WP.
I want to publish PAGES (not posts) to my site.
I’m happy to compose offline, and then cut & paste into WP online, although an editor that would allow publishing pages would be nice… but, it obviously has to show up in IE.
Any suggestions?

In reply to: Internet Explorer display problem… and come to talk about it, how DO I remove the duplicate permalinks from one of the sidebars?
My intention is to use one of the columns for AdSense, eventually.

As far as I can tell, there is no font edit feature in the WP Advanced Editor.
So, I restored the previous page version (great feature, btw!)
I realize I need to fix the sidebars, but any comments on this are appreciated as to how to get the page content to display in IE.
