Sneoo4, I’m not sure if this will help you, but I solved the problem by directing that space to another page (a very simple one).
To do this, go to Appearance –> Customize, then select the “Static Front Page” option at the bottom. Make sure the “A Static Page” is selected under “Front Page Displays” and choose the page you want to display from the drop down menu under “Front Page.”
