I wound up reinstalling MailPoet. In an hour I could have it clean and going the way I wish. The thread, I suppose, can be closed; I would only note and put in the following feature request:

    1) Saving templates has a bug. Needs to be refined to use. Breaks other elements of WP.
    2) Feature request: Ability to delete default templates.

With the template feature, either glitches or significant increases to DB size, resolved and refined, the actual newsletter within WP is very useful for our team.

Of course, there is some stress when a useful plug-in affects other aspects of one’s site. Do keep updated on any fixes with regard to this.

    Thank you.

The most major issue at this point is that my Migration plugin that I have used reliably for several years cannot migrate the ‘mailpoet_newsletter_templates’ table at all. Just spins. Never had an issue with any plugin table before with this. Hate to uninstall and reinstall as lose all data on all newsletters to date, plus the hour plus to get all my settings, subscribers in again.

I already had a plug-in that added Mailpoet to WooCommerce add a glitch to the Woo cart on another site that had the checkout disfunctional for some time til we caught it!

These two issues have me considering definitely to switch from MailPoet as it breaks things. Except for this, it works very well at what it’s supposed to do, and we have invested a good amount of time getting our team going with it. It would be a pity to lose that time, switching to another service – just can’t lose weeks to a newsletter plugin – but may be best in the end.

Do look forward to a response to this. It would be great to just have it resolved.

I resolved the initial instance by reinstalling MailPoet.

Same issue is coming up again, once I have saved my own template.

    1) Yes, I can see performance issues when a single table in the database doubles in size the whole rest of the site in total.

    2) yes.

The issue is with Mailpoet and this table in specific. And no, don’t want to reinstall MP everytime I want to save a template for reuse by my team.

How to delete all the default MailPoet ones? they take over 4.7mbs from database and do not need them at all. I only need to save my own, but when I do that it bloats. How does it store the images in a template? Database is info, so where are the actual image files going?

    Thank you for…

    1) Clarifying how I can trim this?
    2) Informing how to use it in the future when creating own templates without bloating db and affecting performance?

Are you planning any updates that resolve this?
Haven’t had such issues with other plugins in over 5 years with WP.

MailPoet is good – gets what we need done for newsletters – but a few things such as this that could be resolved to make really good!

    Look forward to the response,
    Michael
