I came across this little extension that seems to do the trick https://gist.github.com/matb33/5092416 – Looks like he sets a PRIVATE_ prefix to the JM uploads and prevents access that way. Interesting idea, I am currently using this so I figured I would share it with you. Thanks again for the plugin!
