Thanks for the assistance. I finally got it worked out. The new link I added to the new link category was set private and this silently stopped anything from showing up. Probably obvious to a long time WordPress admin, but not so obvious from the bottom of the learning cliff.

I’m going through the various menu’s to see if I can figure out where that would be. I don’t see anything under Link Category Edit and I doubt that was what you meant anyway. Under ‘Links’ there is a ‘Name’ tick box that turns on selection on all the links of both Blogroll and Corporate but that is for ‘Bulk Actions’, again not what you want. Under ‘Appearance->Widgets’ The ‘LINKS’ widget on the left hand column is drag-able but does not seem to have any parameters associated with it.

In the ‘Primary Widgets Area’ on the right, I can select my Links Widget that I dragged into the 6th slot. It has

    1. All Links in the first drop down menu
    2. Sort by has Link title selected
    3. Show Link Image is ticked
    4. Show Link Name is ticked
    5. Show Link Description is NOT ticked
    6. Show Link Rating is NOT ticked
    7. Links to Show is blank

I do not know of anywhere else to look.

I am uncertain of the answer. There is a Blogroll showing on the site but there is sign of my ‘Corporate’ link category.

I don’t know if I am telling you what you are asking, but… I have two Link Categories. One is the default, titled ‘Blogroll’ the other I created and it is titled ‘Corporate’. My new Link Category has one link in it at present.

The Links Widget on the Appearance->Widget page only says Links and has text under it saying “Your blogroll”.

In the right had column where I dragged it, there is just the title Links. When I ‘open up’ Links, it as a pulldown menu that has three choices: “All, Blogroll, Corporate” I have All selected.

I have a feeling I may not be telling you what you are asking for and am missing something important.

In Appearance->Widgets, I have a Primary Widget box on the right, with a Links block contained in it as the 6th item, and it has a menu item showing ‘All’ which also has the labels ‘Blogroll’ and ‘MyLinks’.

Oh, and thanks for trying to help. Although I have used WP for ages as a writer and editor on a news blog, I have never before dived into the admin side.

ESMI: I have Recent posts, Archives, Categories, Meta and Blogroll showing showing on the right side.

oloaded: I already do have one link in it. It was not until I did that, that I even saw the Link Category show up in the Links menu or the pulldown menus anywhere.

I’d sort of thought it would show up right under Blogroll.

It’s a private site discussing some R&D ideas so unfortunately I can’t. I am pretty sure there must be something very simple I am missing in the process of putting a Links Category on my sidebar.
