Hello @mikes41720
That is great news! Thank you for alerting me. Over the weekend I decided to try setting up the Bing Webmaster account and instead of importing from Google I submitted the sitemap manually. It was my hope this would trigger Google to revisit the site, or that they would share the data and apparently this was the case. I think this, combined with clearing the server cache so that Google didn’t load the coming soon page(that has no links by design) was the solution.
I hope this helps someone else someday.
Thanks Michael,
My current theory is that Google is only seeing a cached homepage – a Coming Soon which of course has no links to follow. So we cleared the cache at the server level and are waiting a couple of days to see if that helps.
That doesn’t really explain why it wouldn’t be reading the sitemap fully though. It’s now been almost a month since we submitted the sitemap. I’m going live with some other sites soon and I plan to do the same thing – use Yoast and add a sitemap. I’ll be eager to see how quickly GSC lists the number of URL’s.
If the caching idea doesn’t pan out I’ll definitely start reaching out to that community. Thank you for sending that link. After that…is there no way at all to ask Google or a certified Google expert or something?
Thanks Michael. The host said the robots.txt edits were only creating a slight delay. But they did remove that and I did resubmit the sitemap.
When I submit a sitemap to Google search console – how long should it take for Google Search Console to read the number of URLs on the sitemap. Not to index the site on the search engine, but just to read the sitemap correctly? Because that what has me stumped most. Google Search Console says it has the sitemap. It has rechecked the sitemap multiple times. And yet…Zero URLs are listed as being associated with that sitemap.
Regardless of indexing the site – shouldn’t that part be immediate? It’s just reading the sitemap.
WIth thanks for your continued support.
Ok that is a nice tip. Not related to my issue I don’t think. But thanks for sharing that tip all the same.
So in the article you sent the link to, if you look at the image in step 4….for this site it looks the same. Except on the right, instead of it saying there are 6 hundred something URLs’ found, ours says 0!
When I look in Google Search Console, it lists that this sitemap has Zero URLs found. Also, if you search for the site on Google it still says that it is coming soon – even though we removed the coming soon like 3 weeks ago. I have a screenshot showing this, but I don’t think I can attach here.
Sure.
The message only appears when I deactivate All-in-One WP Migration. Why would any other plugin require yours to be active? Can you give me an example? It doesn’t make any sense.

In reply to: Why am I seeing the Links Manager? It actually looks pretty useful though. Is there any reason why I would want to go to the effort of removing it?

In reply to: Why am I seeing the Links Manager? But I didn’t have a site that used it. So why is it appearing now?

In reply to: Custom CSSAs an overall good online resource for CSS, I recommend W3 Schools. You can just use it as a reference to look stuff up. But they also have tutorials and areas where you can practice and try stuff out and see how it looks. https://www.w3schools.com/css/default.asp
