@plenskyn I had the same issue as you when I stumbled upon this solution: Simply reset your Site Kit in the Tools menu on your WordPress site!
Just click on Tools in your WordPress menu, and you’ll be taken to a page where you’ll see the option to reset Site Kit. Then, you can redo the plugin setup process with the new URL. I would suggest you connect that site to your Search Console and/or Analytics beforehand.
