@dvankooten I read in another thread that the migration is incremental can be restarted until it has finished β I tried that and now it seems to have worked, the migration notice has disappeared.
However, I notice a few other issues that I’d like to share with you:
- The visitors/pageviews column headings are cramped and overlap, column width seems to be too narrow.
- I see the referrer “ios-app://429047995” and “429047995” which is actually Pinterest
- In the pages column I see the full post/page names, as it should be. The exception is a single post ID for a post that shows up a second time with its full title. The single ID entry only shows visitors/pageviews for yesterday (august 27).
- All of my top posts show a dramatic decline in pageviews since yesterday (when I updated to version 2.0), while overall stats don’t seem to be affected.
Thanks for trying to solve this issue @dvankooten ! I have installed the new test2 version and tried the migration via the button, but still get the same error page after a while. Will try the CLI command next, but have to read up on this (and drink my morning coffee) first, so it may take a while.
@dvankooten a quick research with my hoster says yes. I guess I am gonna learn something new soon π
@dvankooten I did, but the error persists.
@dvankooten there are 40.336 records in the database. The result of the query is 38.750
@dvankooten using the link you provided just redirects me to my blogs start page. I made the upgrade to 2.0.7. Now the migration starts after clicking the button, but it aborts with the same error message as before (in 2.0.5):
Error 503 Backend fetch failed
Backend fetch failed
Guru Meditation:

Varnish cache server@dvankooten I have just upgraded to 2.0.6. Now when I click the “Migrate” button the site seems to reload and nothing happens. FYI, we had 163 different referrers in the last 28 days.
Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Koko Analytics - Privacy-Friendly WordPress Analytics] Problem with WP-Cron@dvankooten just chiming in here, as I am experiencing the same thing at the moment. On january 19 the stats were not aggregated/counted in the chart. I installed the Cron manager plugin that you mentioned in another thread, and it didn’t show the “koko_analytics_aggregate_stats” event at all. I got it running again by deactivating and activating the plugin, and the “missing” stats were added to the following day’s stats (on which I did the fix). The koko_analytics_aggregate_stats job is showing up again and so far it seems to be working.
@dvankooten I can confirm this. Since the latest update, only pageviews are tracked, while the visitor count seems to have frozen. See the screenshot below:

Thanks a lot Danny, it’s good to know that the plugin works as expected on my site. I agree with you that it should not be the culprit here. Unfortunately, I do not have command line access (and wouldn’t have the knowledge to do the stuff you recommended anyhow) – but I will ask my provider to give me some more insight into the CPU usage. Thanks again for taking your time to look into this!
Hello Danny,
I took a look at the access log myself now, and here is the breakdown for the day in question:
– around 13.000 requests were made to: /koko-analytics-collect.php …
– around 7.000 requests were made to: /wp-content/plugins/koko-analytics/assets/dist/js/script.js?ver=1.0.24 HTTP/2.0Koko Analytics shows around 8.500 visits and 13.000 page views for that day. Maybe that helps?
I’ve also deactivated Boxzilla and Boxzilla Stats for the moment and will report back. However, my first impression is that the CPU load hasn’t changed. We show a single box to mobile users, which is seen about 1.000 times per day.
Hey Danny,
thanks for the clarification! And you’re right: I’ve just tested this and I get an additional visitor+pageview hit whenever I reload a specific page.
So that explains why both columns show the same count in the pages table – which confused me as this is not reflected in the chart and total counts, where they show different values.
I have uploaded a screenshot of my analytics dashboard here.
Let me know how I can help if you’d like to troubleshoot this.
@dvankooten the option you described would be super-awesome of course. I guess I didn’t dare to ask for something like that π Right now I’m just lacking the option to gauge the percentage of visitors from pinterest as it is broken down into all those single urls.
And yes to the first three examples. That’s the way I would like to see it!
@dvankooten I’m happy to hear that you liked my suggestions and put them up for a vote! I have joined GitHub myself now and will follow the discussion there (as soon as I figure out how everything works).
As for your question: I don’t know exactly what you mean by the URLs being “private” … they refer to individual pins that were made by someone who has a pinterest account and can be seen by anyone (even without being logged in). Here is an example:
The link from the pinned image takes you to a single post on our website.
Right now, I can see hundreds of those in the referrer list. In GA, all pinterest referrals are grouped as either pinterest.com or pinterest.de.
Hope that helps!

Hey @dvankooten,
I have been running Koko Analytics for 2 weeks now and would like to share a few ideas and suggestions with you. Hope this place is okay for that (I’m not on Github or Twitter).
First, I really think the “stacked bars” view was superior to the new separate bars. I have some minor background with statistics myself and get the purists’ concerns – however, I think that it was a perfect way to display both values in a minimalist, uncluttered and inutitive way. Plus, it wasn’t technically a wrongly used stacked bar chart, as you didn’t add up both values but rather lined up the two bars behind each other. So count me in with the “pro-stackers” π
As for additional functionality, here is my personal “wishlist” (in no particular order):
- have the option to switch from daily to aggregated weekly and monthly visits/pageviews – this would make identifying long term trends much easier, especially in the yearly view
- indicate mondays (or sundays) under the respective bars in the monthly chart for better orientation (and the 1st of each month in the yearly chart)
- display the day of the week when hovering over the bars (before or after the date)
- option to sort visits/pageviews in an ascending or descending order (or “jump” to first/last page with one click)
- option to filter the chart output: only show visits/pageviews for specific pages or referrers (or even categories)
- include homepage and category pages in pages list
- show new visits/pageviews in the last 60 seconds – this would be a nice substitute for the real-time traffic view in GA and could be shown on the left of the “total visitors” display at the top.
Last but not least, the domain aggregation in the referrer list could probably be improved. For instance, I get the following variations shown separately:
- google.de | google.de/url | google.de/search
- bing.com | bing.com/search
- facebook.com | l.facebook.com | m.facebook.com
- pinterest.com | pinterest.com/pin/xxx (the xxx standing for an individual pin url)
Personally, I would find it more useful to have those aggregated to the respective top domain.
That’s it for now. Thanks again for this great plugin (and let me know if there’s a better way to send you feedback)!
