In reply to: [Transient Cleaner] Maintenance of this pluginHi David,
It looks as if it’s now resolved – the Gravatar profile of the original developer was, somehow, cross-linked to this account. We ended up having to speak to WordPress support in the end to resolve it but it now looks to be sorted.
As soon as we get a website and/or social media sites sorted we’ll add those.

In reply to: [Transient Cleaner] Maintenance of this pluginApologies for the confusion David – it’s a result of the way the handover to us was initially done. It wasn’t obvious where those links were coming from but we’ve found them now and have taken steps for them to disappear. Once we’re on social networks ourselves we’ll add our own.
Our plan is to take control (with the original developers consent) of worthwhile but abandoned plugins. We’ll sort out any outstanding issues, strip advertising and any other promotional material from any of them and then look at improving them.
In the case of this plugin that’s done – what it needs to do it does. We’ll now just keep it “ticking over”, replying to any support queries and performing any maintenance when required.
I hope this answers your query.

In reply to: [Open Currency Converter] No longer workingThe plugin should work fine – let us know what issue you’re experiencing.
As to the payment – this plugin has always been free so, hopefully, you’ve never paid anyone for it. The Open Exchange Rate site offers the data to this plugin and they will charge for some data (although there is a free option) – are you paying them? In which case we are nothing to do with them.

In reply to: [Transient Cleaner] Easy fix: PHP Notice: Undefined index: clean_optimizeHi Jeremy,
Yes, that’s our bad – we normally check but, in this case, forgot.
We’ll push out an update later today.

In reply to: [Transient Cleaner] Differences between your plugin and othersHi Paul,
Not that we’re aware of. I know some people in their forum were asking about multisite capability – certainly ours works with that.
Possibly the main difference is that the development of this has been done alongside the WordPress core developers, whilst they looked at implementing the feature into the mainline code.

In reply to: [Transient Cleaner] Technical Information on TransientsThe plugin has now been updated – what it does hasn’t changed. Although removal of all transients is now performed after a database upgrade within WordPress core I’ve retained this functionality within this plugin for 2 reasons…
1) Mine will re-optimise the table afterwards
2) For those who don’t have the latest releaseIt doesn’t do any harm for it to be in twice – the 2nd run will simply not achieve anything.

In reply to: [Transient Cleaner] Technical Information on TransientsIn what respects? The plugin update will be out in due course but isn’t critical.
As for the statement, that’s here… http://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/the-current-state-of-transient-housekeeping?replies=1

In reply to: [Code Embed] Updated WordPress and embed not workingThat sounds about right. All this plugin does is add the script you provide at the point you specify – if this has been modified then it’s been doing by something else. The only way of checking what’s conflicting is to de-activate each plugin at a time and re-check.
If you have a caching plugin installed then, from experience, we’ve found that they will often alter the output of a WP page.

In reply to: [Code Embed] Updated WordPress and embed not workingIt’s unlikely to be the version of WP – we’re using the latest ourselves and it works fine. The best way to check is to select the View Source option in your browser when on one of the pages that doesn’t now work. Now check to see if the embedded code can be found – if it’s there and intact then it’s nothing to do with this plugin, as all it does is insert it into the page where you want it.
Let us know the results!

In reply to: [Transient Cleaner] Fantastic! You’re welcome Paul. I’ll pass your praise onto the developer (we are now looking after development, not that much is needed now – just maintaining it!).
There were plans to integrate the changes but it was abandoned. We’ll be updating the FAQ imminently, but basically WordPress decided against doing it because it might break some badly written plugins. In the end they only implemented clearing all transients upon a database upgrade (and then without optimising the tables afterwards, as this plugin does). Ho hum. But it keeps this plugin relevant if nothing else.

In reply to: [Transient Cleaner] Technical Information on TransientsIt barely scratched the surface. It will only clear down old transients during an upgrade. And only if the database needs updating. And then it doesn’t clear down expired transients but all transients.

In reply to: [Transient Cleaner] Technical Information on TransientsHi Tevya,
We’ve taken over the plugin and we’ll publish an updated statement on what now happens with transient housekeeping in a short while.
