Much appreciatedForum: Plugins
In reply to: How to make my backup directory writableI’ve recreated the backup file and checked the properties which says:
Owner has Read, Write Executive boxes ticked
Group has Read and Executive boxes ticked
All Users have Read and Execute boxes ticked
Can you let me know from this which boxes should be ticked/or unticked?
Nearly there now hopefully :o)Many thanks once again

In reply to: How to make my backup directory writableHi and thanks for your response, much appreciated.
I’ve located wp-content via FTP and looked at the permissions on another wordpress blog that I know works OK.To create a backup folder within wp-content – sorry to ask this one, how do I actually create the folder?
Thanks once again for your help

In reply to: [Plugin: Sidebar Login] Showing links to certain usersI can’t get this plugin to work for me either. When visitors arrive at my site – they see the sidebar login – but they can’t register. I can login using my admin details only.
Not sure if this is a similar problem to yours?

In reply to: Help with Upgrade of Tarski ThemeThis strategy has cured the problem! Hooray!! – although one problem remains. In the Super Cache Plugin – I’ve got this message
Warning! /home/fhlinux138/7/7coreprinciples.co.uk/user/htdocs/wp-content is writeable!
Does this mean that anyone can gain access to the site and change it, and if so what do I need to do?
Many thanks for your support

In reply to: Help with Upgrade of Tarski ThemeThanks James – yes will give that a go and see what happens.

In reply to: Help with Upgrade of Tarski ThemeI’ve done as you’ve recommended, de-activated the plugins, upgraded to version 3 and then reactivated them all. Then re-loaded Tarski via FTP. This has worked successfully! Hurrah! However, this has created two very small problems.
The widgets have disappeared from the sidebar and when I type in the url http://www.7coreprinciples.co.uk I can see the words “Edit Page” and “Dashboard” – not sure how to get rid of them. The page formatting looks a bit weird as well.
Any helps very gratefully received. :o)Thanks once again.

In reply to: Help with Upgrade of Tarski ThemeOh Wow! That easy? Cool. Yes I’ve been looking at the upgrade notification for a while now, I was thinking it was a big deal, so haven’t attempted it. Hmmmm, will give it a go at the weekend.

In reply to: Help with Upgrade of Tarski ThemeThanks very much for your help. This looks like quite a complex challenge so I think I’ll need some help with that. I’ve already done a backup using the WordPress backup plugin. I understand how to disable the plugins (I didn’t know I had to do that so that’s really useful to know by the way); however, I think I am straying into unchartered waters here so might need to find a techie who can do this. Thanks for your help though, much appreciated. Nearing the finish line I think.

In reply to: Help with Upgrade of Tarski ThemeYes I have thought about that. I think at the end of the day – that’s probably the best way forward. Will I need to take any action before I actually do that, apart from doing a backup?

In reply to: Help with Upgrade of Tarski ThemeI’ve located the new Theme and deleted that one as well. Looks like I am having a problem with getting a new theme. So I can access the Dashboard and all the content is all there (thank God!). But the site doesn’t load if I type in the url.
I’m not going to do anything now just in case I make anything worse. What would you recommend my next steps are?
Thanks once again for any adviceForum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: Help with Upgrade of Tarski ThemeThanks so much for your advice. What I’ve done in the interim is move the whole Tarski folder back onto my desktop, which allowed me to access the dashboard at least.
Unfortunately I’ve tried to activate a new theme and the same thing has happened again. Does your advice above apply this time as well, and if so – what do I rename – just the actually theme folder folder? I have two theme folders there now – one that says Classic and one that says Default.
Thanking you for your time and patience :o)
