Ok, got it. & yes, if I end up rebuilding the site with a different theme it would be to do so with the local wordpress program and go self-hosted. However, the drawback to that from I can see is that only 1 person can edit the site rather than having multiple admins that can make changes to the sections of the site that are relevant to their work.
I do plan on using the self-hosted option for future website projects. It seems like a great tool for high levels of customization, etc.

Thanks again for all of your help. I’m always impressed with the quality of the advice that comes from these forums.

Thanks for the lead on the theme designers. Worst case scenario I’ll probably have to re-build the site in a different theme.
The wordpress.com solution is to use a google translate tool that a commenter developed to get around their Javascript issues. It’s pretty far from perfect as there’s no way to control the translation that is presented.

I appreciate the confirmation that I didn’t miss anything simple on this one.

“Also, just so you know, you will only be able to import content back into a WordPress.COM hosted site – so this scenario may not do what you want.” – I’m not sure what you mean by this, but I’m assuming that with the export option into wordpress from wordpress.com I can only go back to wordpress.com?
