Funnily enough, I’ve just done that today. The only plugins I now have live is the Events Manager and AdRotate Pro. I’ve also changed the theme today but it’s then increased the gap even further (currently 49 pending but only 28 actually sat there ready to approve).
I can’t see any extra events in the database, beyond what I can see in the admin panel.
Have you ever come across this problem before?
One problem I’ve had lately, and discovered more detail on today, is that maximum execution time was set quite low and therefore, some users would get errors after trying to upload an event via the front end form. I recreated that scenario hoping that would give me the answer, but unfortunately, it didn’t go up from 49, not submit it for approval so it can’t be that either.
