In reply to: Multisite members across sitesYeah, that was the first thing I did. Even though they market it as multisite compatible, what they really meant was that although it would work on a multisite main site, it wouldn’t play nice with the network at all. I let them know they should really be clear about this in their materials. I felt duped.
When I asked them how to get it working (after I purchased), I received a curt reply, stating, “MM is compatible with multisite as it will run on the parent site on your multisite install. We don’t have specific support for multisite however so if you want your MM site to ‘talk’ to the satellite or children sites you’ll need to program that on your own.”
I sent a very heated message back, especially since the developer’s emphasis is on great customer support.
To be fair, this was sent by someone representing him. He himself took time to help me through a couple of other snags and was very amenable. But when the issue of multisite came up, that was it. Zip. Nada. I’m bummed.
Do you have a suggestion for another premium plugin that is well regarded and well coded, and has features such as complete multisite integration, recurring payments, subscriptions, downloadable products, integration with Paypal, content protection, and (very important), an way for users to see their account information on the front end and be able to change credit card info, upgrade membership, unsubscribe, etc. We want a user friendly and seamless experience for our customers.
Thanks for any insight you can offer.

In reply to: Multisite members across sitesI appreciate your reply, David, thank you.
There’s a glitch, however. I’m using the MemberMouse membership plugin to register and log in members and keep track of payment information, but it won’t recognize members on the subsite. It won’t recognize the subsite at all. All member data and privileges are in separate table structures (prefix is mm_) in the main site, and it works fine there. But I don’t have the capability to make the plugin “talk” to the pages on the subsite. For instance, none of the smart tags to protect parts of the content are recognized on the subsite. And members can’t log in to the subsite with the MemberMouse interface. MemberMouse has great features, and I need members to be able to see their account information and purchases after they log in the way MemberMouse allows. No other plugin I’ve found performs this way. I also need members not to have to have two separate login systems to access their materials and content from the two sites. I feel a bit duped, because the MemberMouse marketing collateral said it was Multisite compatible. I didn’t realize I’d have to program the functionality on my own with no support. That’s beyond my scope.
I’m more on the end of the learning curve where I need a workaround pointed out to me in a step-by-step fashion. I know my way around WordPress and can make various CSS custom changes and database changes, but I am not familiar with PHP, hooks, and the like. I would like to be, but I’m not there yet.
Just as an aside, I also don’t see the same list of users in my subsite as I do on my main site. Why is that, if all users remain logged in to all subsites?
Thanks,
DawnHi, Danny,
I love the plugin–thanks! I’d like to add my name to the list of people requesting options for first name, and last name too. That way, I can configure the bar in the way that works best for my clients’ needs.
I also have another request. It would be great if we could position the bar in another area, e.g., below the main slider area where it’s more noticeable than on the top of the page, where the search function gets hidden in a particular theme I’m working with (Jupiter).
Thanks for being open to suggestions and for making such a great product.
Best wishes,
Dawn
