omg, that worked, you are amazing. thank you so much for your help, that worked perfectly. (once i added the comma after the category name). my coding capabilities are limited; i’m not sure what a child theme is, but it worked with just editing the main code.

thanks for the quick reply, but i am still not seeing a way to accomplish what i’m hoping…. i followed all the instructions, and everything works well except i cannot control which images are on the home page. i have secondary pages that i am also using the same image post format, so i have all of my images under the “image” format. i have also created multiple “categories” that show up in my main menu. i would like just one of those categories to populate the main page, not the most recently posted of all the “image format” posts. i hope that you understand what i am trying to accomplish.
