Thank you so much for following up @jamesgreat. Fortunately this morning my host was able to install the SSL, and exactly as suggested the website and backend are now back in working order. I have been hosted at WordPress for close to 10 years and had never had one problem. This is the only time (due to my own mistake). And the support here was so prompt and helpful. Thank you so much for your prompt help @threadi. It’s a relief to hear that activating the SSL should solve the problem. I am in touch my host and hopefully this will be resolved soon.
