In reply to: Add another image to existing galleryThanks but the only “+” I see is at the top left and it only inserts a block. When I click the image there’s no new “+”. Some options appear above the image but I tried them all. It used to be so easy. They really messed up the post editor, I’m having issues with all kinds of basics and can’t proceed. I tried a classic post editor plugin but it’s just as bad, there’s no way to select and edit the entire gallery, only individual images.

Possibly, I don’t recall. I set it up that way for a client a while ago and they said it worked.

In reply to: [Fifteen] Theme udpate 2.1.4Yes, I tried it, it’s still broken. My child theme doesn’t work with it anymore. It’s as if it were a completely different theme.
I turned off mail configuration and cron, and only use post notification, then it sends the latest post in the category as soon as it’s published.

In reply to: Can’t edit template files direcly since 4.9Just to be clear, I made changes to a template file from inside WordPress, I saved my changes, got the message that my changes couldn’t be saved like usual. So, I went on my host, again like usual. When I went to edit the file, it was blank. This shouldn’t be possible, as the point of the new template file protection is to prevent file changes from inside WordPress. If a file gets wiped clean, I call that a change!
If this can be caused by a plugin incompatibility, then this new feature is too dangerous to employ, because the damage can’t be reversed by simply deactivating the culprit plugin.

I just tried again to update my functions file, I got the usual message “Unable to communicate back with site to check for fatal errors, so the PHP change was reverted. You will need to upload your PHP file change by some other means, such as by using SFTP.”
However, my file was indeed updated anyway, but not with my changes. When I went to the file on my host, it was empty. WordPress completely erased my functions file.
So it’s much worse than I thought. This new file protection thing doesn’t work consistently, and makes site editing even more dangerous than before!
If you even attempt to update files from inside WordPress, you risk losing the entire file, regardless of the changes you may be trying to make. I was only updating hard coded links after assigning a domain to the site, seemingly safe enough, but apparently, not anymore. Developers beware!

In reply to: [Image Gallery - Responsive Photo Gallery] Almost a great thingThanks for your response. I looked at the pro, I didn’t see any options to control how the images open (attachment, browser, lightbox) .
If you have a style option called “lightbox” it seems to me that the images should open in a lightbox. But they open in the browser instead. In all fairness, that doesn’t make sense to me.
The way the image link opens should be optional regardless of gallery style. This is what your pro version needs, but I didn’t see that..

It looks as though the settings for Mail Configuration and Post Notification are very similar. Is the difference that Mail Config will send as scheduled, while Post Notification sends on publish?
I have them both enabled, as I thought they were controlling the same thing. I only want the post sent when it’s published, I don’t need to schedule..Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Can’t edit template files direcly since 4.9Thanks all, It’s not so important that I would employ a server hack. Also I need all my plugins, so I’ll have to wait until those plugins update to accommodate this. In the mean time I’m getting used to editing files on my server.

In the mean time, I need to try deactivating all plugins and switch themes, I’ll let you know if I find a conflict.
I can’t log in, it says it doesn’t have my email. I was able to submit a ticket before, and I only have one email address.
