I hope you are doing well…Regarding your query, yes, ref in the URL only needed once then it stored the required details in the browser cookie so users can normally browse around the site but the affiliate info is already saved in the browser then once the user made a purchase, that affiliate will earn a commission.

Team DevDiggersYou need to make changes in the plugin file only if you want to change some, there is no template override functionality in the plugin for now.
You need to check the code and change it from your end to change the template. There is no other way for it.
