@dieforyou You can avoid having duplicate titles or meta descriptions in paginated content by adding the %page% variable. We also have more information on using the template variables here: https://yoast.com/help/list-available-snippet-variables-yoast-seo/
@keithbiomed The Yoast SEO plugin doesn’t use an XML file for verification, so that can’t be used to verify. To verify with Bing, you have to use the HTML meta tag verification option. We have instructions for how to verify using this method here: https://yoast.com/help/how-to-connect-your-website-to-bing-webmaster-tools/
@unleaded68 We’re sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue on your site.
A blank meta box issue occurs due to a JavaScript conflict. So we’d like you to please perform a conflict check. This will help us narrow down the exact cause and determine what the next steps are while saving you time.
Often, we see problems occur in combination with another plugin or theme. The fastest way to rule out any conflict is to deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme like Twenty Twenty-Two.
Please test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin. This plugin has a troubleshooting mode, which does not affect normal visitors to your site.
If you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process: How to check for plugin conflicts.@fatihaltinkaya16 We have instructions on how to edit the breadcrumbs pathway on a WooCommerce shop page available here: https://yoast.com/help/implement-wordpress-seo-breadcrumbs/#how-do-i-change-the-breadcrumbs-on-a-woocommerce-shop-page
For example, you can edit the breadcrumbs by using developer filters and then placing that code in your theme’s functions.php file. We have some examples available on how to implement this here.
@snowraph Thanks for confirming that your issue has already been resolved, as well as the solution.
We’re going ahead and marking this as resolved, but you’re always welcome to re-open the topic.

We looked and we can see your sitemap loading here so the sitemap is loading as expected and nothing should prevent it from being fetched by Google. If you are receiving the error of ‘Couldn’t Fetch’ for the sitemap in Google, we suggest the following actions to resolve this :
- 1. Clear all your caching from your theme, plugin, server, CDN like CloudFlare or browser. If you are not sure how to clear caching from theme/plugin please speak to those authors. If you want to clear cache from the server, please speak to your host provider.
- 2. Delete your sitemap in Google. Doing so will not hurt the SEO of the site. This guide explains more (scroll to the bottom): https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/183669?hl=en.
- 3. Submit the sitemap again. Be sure to submit only sitemap_index.xml and nothing else. This guide explains more: https://yoast.com/help/submit-sitemap-search-engines/.
- 4. If your robots.txt file contains any sitemap directives, edit your robots.txt to remove your sitemaps. This guide explains more: https://yoast.com/help/how-to-edit-robots-txt-through-yoast-seo/ If resubmitting the sitemap does not resolve the warning, it may be due to a bug or issue in Google Search Console. We would recommend first checking the sitemap for any issues in a validator such as https://www.xml-sitemaps.com/validate-xml-sitemap.html, and if no issues are found, we would then recommend checking the sitemap in Google Search Console using the URL Inspection Tool.
To check whether the sitemap can be fetched using the URL Inspection Tool in Google Search Console you would need to perform the following steps:
- Click on ‘URL Inspection’ in the left hand menu
- Enter the URL of your sitemap in the entry field Since the sitemap is intentionally set to
noindex, the page will not be in Google’s index. - Click the ‘Test Live URL’ button
- • After the Live Test is complete, check the ‘Page Fetch’ status which is located under ‘Crawl’ We also we have a guide on using the URL Inspection Tool feature here: https://yoast.com/help/fetch-as-googlebot/
If you continue to experience the ‘Couldn’t Fetch’ error, you can also reach out to Google Search Console support at the following link: https://support.google.com/webmasters/?hl=en#topic=9002753
Also, you can create your own thread about this warning and receive assistance on resolving it by creating a post on the Google Search Console support forum at: https://support.google.com/webmasters/thread/new?hl=en
@brian355370 We’re sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue on your site.
Regarding your issue, if the
og:imagetag being output is not showing the correct value for the featured image you set and you’ve already cleared the site cache, it may be that the image was set elsewhere and it took precedence over the featured image. Can you please check to ensure that the image is not being configured under the ‘Facebook Image’ setting for the post? This value is set by performing the following steps:
- In WordPress, go to the edit screen for the post in question
- Scroll down to the Yoast SEO meta box
- Click on the ‘Social’ tab
- Make sure that the value for ‘Facebook Image’ is not set to another image
- Click ‘Publish’ to update the post
@naumanafridi987 We’re sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue on your site.
When you say this issue occurs when you share a post, is the issue specific to any platform (ie Facebook, Twitter, etc)?
I checked on the site in a Google search here and based off the top results using only
site:mobizilla.pkall of the top results are showing results related to Poetry (see image here). As for what is shown on social media, the title and description that displayed are configured on the social tab of the Yoast SEO plugin. For example, setting the Facebook title and Facebook description fields will be output as the
og:titleandog:descriptionmeta tags and these Open Graph tags are used by Facebook and many other social media sites for the displayed Title/Description you see.If you update these settings for one of the problematic posts, does this resolve the issue? We also have more information on optimizing a post for social media available in the article here: https://yoast.com/social-media-optimization-with-yoast-seo/
@mycleaningangel We’re sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue on your site.
If you are seeing unexpected behavior or appearance for one of your site’s social previews when sharing it on social media, this can be caused by the social media site caching old metadata for that page. This is why you may not immediately see the new values you set up for the page reflected in the page’s preview when you share it (image, title, description, etc).
To resolve this, we would first recommend to try checking your page’s link using Facebook’s Sharing Debugger tool located here.
Can you please try running the Facebook Sharing Debugger on the page you are experiencing the issue on, and under ‘When and how we last scraped the URL’ clicking the ‘Scrape Again’ option and letting us know whether this resolves the issue? The ‘Scrape Again’ option will force Facebook to update it’s cache for your page’s link.
Please note that to successfully update the cache it may require re-scraping your page several times as whether the page’s data can be read may take several requests between Facebook and the server your website is hosted on. Also, this guide includes more information on this and explains in detail how to do this: What to do when Facebook sharing is not working correctly.
@chrisbdm We’ve identified several concerns in your message and responded to each below:
Is there a way for Yoast to recreate a robots.txt file?
There isn’t a feature in the plugin to delete the robots.txt file, it only allows you to create a robots.txt file and edit an existing robots.txt file. If for some reason you want to completely delete the robots.txt file, it would need to be done via a file manager or FTP application.
It doesn’t look like the typical Yoast example so how can I change this? Is there a way to re-run the create robots.txt file or do I just manually edit the text to something like the one below and save it?
You can edit the robots.txt file by performing the following steps:
- In WordPress, go to Yoast SEO>Tools
- Click on ‘File Editor’
- Under ‘robots.txt’ beneath ‘Edit the content of your robots.txt:’ is a field from which you can directly edit your robots.txt file
- After making any changes to the file, click ‘Save changes to robots.txt’
If you do not see the ‘File Editor’ option in Yoast SEO>Tools, this may mean that file editing is disabled on your WordPress installation. If file editing is disabled, please enable file editing or edit the file through FTP.
We also have more information on this and editing the robots.txt file here: How to edit robots.txt with Yoast SEO.
Also, would changing this effect anything else such as with Google Search Console which has already indexed pages etc?
The robots.txt file contains directives intended to instruct search engine bots, including Googlebot, how you would like your site to be crawled by them. That is to say that any changes you make to this file are to affect Googlebot. The specific directives you are wanting to include don’t affect which areas or pages to crawl though, but rather the
crawl-delaydirective instructs search engine bots to change how frequently they’ll request pages on your site. You can read more information on the robots.txt file and the use of the
crawl-delaydirective in the guide here: The ultimate guide to robots.txt.@asafm7 We’re sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue on your site.
Can you please confirm whether you are using the most recent version of the Yoast SEO plugin, version 20.9?
@aleksandrhaiko In some cases, you may have other sitemaps that you want to add to the sitemap index. If so, you can add an external sitemap to your sitemap using the guide here: https://yoast.com/help/add-external-sitemap-to-index/
