  • @magicpowers We’re sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue on your site. We’ve identified several concerns in your message and responded to each below:

I assumed that my Yoast plugin will adjust the image size to the platform needs.

The plugin does not adjust the image size in this way. When you specify an image in the social settings of the plugin, it will use that exact image file URL in the metadata. We have more information on this here: https://yoast.com/advanced-technical-seo-social-image-ogimage-tags/

My product image (Woocommerce) is always square and it’s difficult to change it to a landscape of a different size. Why don’t they show as previously as square in a middle of the landscape image field as before?

We aren’t sure exactly what you are seeing occur for the social image. Can you please provide an example URL and/or a screenshot of the issue so we can better understand the problem?

I found on your site instructions how to configure Yoast SEO for Woocommerce – however my Yoast SEO menu does NOT have the WoocommerceSEO link as shown in your article. Where will I find it?

This menu is only seen if you have purchased the premium WooCommerce SEO add-on plugin. You can find out more about this plugin here.

We’re sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue on your site.

We understand that you are getting an error when running the SEO data optimization within the SEO Workout: error parsing the response to json

First, I want to assure you that not performing the optimization process will not affect your site negatively in search results. Additionally, the optimization process will run silently in the background as content on your site is created, modified, or removed. As the optimization process makes our plugin work more efficiently, let’s look into what might be causing this on your site.

The error above is generic, and we cannot say which was the cause of this. From time to time, we see that other site components could prevent SEO data optimization from running smoothly.

Therefore as a first step, we ask you to try the following:

    • 1. Install and activate the Yoast Test Helper plugin if you don’t have it.
    • 2. Same for the Health Check plugin: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/health-check/.
    • The plugin will permit you to perform a conflict check by deactivating plugins and switching themes. Doing so will not affect the SEO of your site, and your visitors will still be able to view your site as usual.
    • 3. Verify you have the default theme Twenty-Twenty. If not, please install it.
    • 4. Go to your WordPress admin dashboard > Tools (on the left sidebar) > Yoast Test.
    • 5. Click on the ‘Reset indexables tables & migrations,’ ‘Reset Prominent words calculation, and ‘Reset Internal link counter’ buttons. After each click, the page will reload to confirm that each reset was successful.
    • 6. Activate the Troubleshooting Mode (TM) in the Health Check plugin.
    • 7. In TM, activate only the Yoast SEO plugins (both free and premium) and the default theme Twenty-Twenty.
    • 8. Rerun the SEO data optimization.
    • 9. Deactivate the Troubleshooting Mode in the Health Check plugin.

In this way, was the SEO data optimization completed?

@steffievolvcom We’re sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue on your site.

As we have seen unexpected issues where the previously optimized data is invalid or incomplete, we recommend to first try a reset of the optimization to ensure any invalid data is removed.

No data will be lost as the default WordPress tables also contain the SEO data. This process will only reset the custom Yoast tables with the combined data pulled from those default tables.

Also, we recommend creating regular backups of your site and database before making substantial changes to your website. Regular backups provides you with a safety net if something were to go wrong. In addition, we highly recommend using a staging or testing site to reduce the impact on your live site.

Our How to reset the Yoast indexables guide will walk you through the process step by step. We’ve also summarized the steps below.

1 Install & activate the Yoast Test Helper plugin
2 Go to Tools > Yoast Test
3 Locate the Yoast SEO section and click on the ‘Reset indexables tables & migrations’, ‘Reset Prominent words calculation’, and ‘Reset Internal link counter‘ buttons. After each click, the page will reload to confirm that the specific reset was successful.
4 Go to Yoast SEO > Tools, and under SEO data, click the “Start SEO data optimization” button to allow Yoast to rescan your content.

Please let us know if the reported issue remains after resetting the optimized data.

@lukebo We’re sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue on your site.

Can you please clarify on what is occurring to the header of your site when both Yoast SEO and Elementor are active? If it helps to explain, please include a screenshot of the issue with the output header.

@onima We’re sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue on your site.

For initial troubleshooting, we do recommend you clear the cache from your theme, plugin, server, database, CDN like Cloudflare, and browser? If you’re unsure how to clear the cache from both the server and database, please speak to your host provider. To clear the cache from your browser, use this guide. Once you’ve done that, please check the page’s source code again.

Does that resolve the issue? If not, we need you to perform a conflict check. Often, we see problems occur in combination with another plugin or theme. The fastest way to rule out any conflict is to deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme like Twenty Twenty.

Please test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin. This plugin has a troubleshooting mode, which does not affect normal visitors to your site.

For your site’s health and safety, we recommend creating regular backups of your site and database. If you haven’t made one recently, please perform one now. Learn more about the benefits of regular backups.

If you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process: How to check for plugin conflicts.

If after clearing both the caches and performing a conflict check the issue still remains and the meta description field is already populated, but it’s still not showing up on the source code, please reset the Yoast indexables and run the SEO data optimization process. You may follow the steps below.

    1. Install & activate the Yoast Test Helper plugin
    2. Go to Tools > Yoast Test
    3. Locate the Yoast SEO section and click on the ‘Reset indexables tables & migrations‘, ‘Reset Prominent words calculation‘, and ‘Reset Internal link counter‘ buttons. After each click, the page will reload to confirm that the specific reset was successful.
    4. Go to SEO > Tools, and under SEO data, click the “Start SEO data optimization” button to allow Yoast to rescan your content.

Please let us know if the reported issue remains after resetting the optimized data.

@cmegoz We’re sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue on your site.

If you are adding your content through other plugin or theme content boxes (as most page builders do), Yoast SEO may not be able to detect it by default.

If you are using a plugin or theme that doesn’t send their content to our page analysis, please reach out to the author or developer to request an integration feature for better SEO compatibility. Our development team provides information about creating a custom integration here.

    devnihil

    (@devnihil)

@abcwebsites Unfortunately we can’t offer support on custom code. Since we don’t want to take the risk that we break your website by suggesting incorrect or incomplete code, we cannot advise you on how to make such changes. Maybe someone watching these forums can assist you further, but if your topic is inactive, we’ll mark it as resolved to keep the overview.

However, if you are wanting to different page titles due to receiving a duplicate meta description/title issue, you can avoid having duplicate titles or meta descriptions by adding the %%page%% variable to your pages.

We also have more information on using the template variables here: https://yoast.com/help/list-available-snippet-variables-yoast-seo/

@chocolat46 We are sorry you’re encountering this error “Invalid reqular expression: /*$/: Nothing to repeat“.

Can you please let us know whether you are using the “BoldThemes WordPress Importer” plugin on your website or not? If you are using it, we recommend you try deactivating the specific plugin and check whether it helps fix the issue.

If the issue persists after deactivating the “BoldThemes WordPress Importer” plugin, often, we see problems occur in combination with another plugin or theme. The fastest way to rule out any conflict is to deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme like Twenty Twenty-Two.

Please test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin. This plugin has a troubleshooting mode, which does not affect normal visitors to your site.

If you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process: How to check for plugin conflicts.

@kobibentata We’re sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue on your site.

I understand you’re getting an error on the Yoast settings page of Cannot read properties of undefined (reading ‘prevOffset’).

This error is typically caused due an outdated translation. You should get an update on your Dashboard>Updates to update your translations. Can you please update it and see if the issue resolves?

If the issue persists, you may need to deactivate and reactivate the Yoast SEO plugin and check again for updates.

    devnihil

    (@devnihil)

@murat1 Sadly, there is no option to import meta description data at this time. We understand this is a limitation of the plugin. However, this feature is already on our radar. We’re not working on it at the moment, but we have created a feature request for this, so our developers can consider this when planning updates. We’ve added you to the list to be contacted once there is an update.

As an alternative, we suggest checking to see if import plugins like WP All Import can support importing Yoast SEO CSV data into the new site. Although we are not familiar with how to do it, nor can we guarantee the results, they have a tutorial on their site on importing data into the Yoast SEO plugin.

    devnihil

    (@devnihil)

@aiste08 The version of Yoast SEO you are using is very out of date, as the current version is 20.7.

To resolve this we’d first recommend updating the plugin to the current version. We have a guide on how to upgrade the plugin here: https://yoast.com/help/how-can-i-update-my-free-plugin/

    devnihil

    (@devnihil)

@webfantastic Regarding removing that link, there is not a feature in the plugin to remove this. Unfortunately, there’s a difference between the support we can offer and the level of programming needed to change (core) features of our plugin. Since we don’t want to take the risk that we break your website by suggesting incorrect or incomplete code, we cannot advise you on how to make such changes. And even though we cannot be of any assistance, you’re completely free to change anything in the plugin to better suit your needs.

That being said, please understand the sitemap isn’t something site users are visiting, and is purposely set to noindex so won’t be returned in any user search query in Google or any other search engine result pages. Sitemaps are read by search engine bots in order for them to better understand the structure of the site and to help specify to them which URLs on your site should be crawled and indexed.

@mercilesss We apologize for the difficulties and can certainly understand how this would be confusing.

For the posts where this issue is occurring, if you go into the post and re-save it without making any changes, does this resolve the issue?

Also, if you clear your cache (server, plugin/theme, browser, or CDN such as Cloudflare) does this resolve the issue? If you are not sure how to clear your server cache you should speak with your host provider.

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention! I’m sorry that our plugin caused a problem on your site. A bug report has been created and is under review by our product team. Additionally, we highly recommend reporting plugin conflicts to the developer of the conflicting plugin as they may have additional information vital to providing a resolution. Having both teams work on the issue is a benefit to you.

    What’s next?
Our product team will assess the severity of the issue and assign a priority level to the report. Our developers work on the highest priority issues first. We cannot give you an estimate of when they’ll start working on the issue.

If you have any further information that may affect the prioritization or help our development team solve this bug, please leave a comment or subscribe to the GitHub report to get updates on the issue: https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/issues/20201

@cullachie In regards to your concern about your keywords not appearing as metadata in your page’s source code, focus keywords do not add any additional data to your page. The focus keyword feature is only an analysis of your page to optimize the keyword usage and density in the page’s content and other metadata (title, meta description, slug, etc).

There is another type of keywords called meta keywords which do add metadata to your page’s source code, however meta keywords have been removed from Yoast SEO Premium as of version 6.3. As meta keywords have not been used by search engines for a long time we have chosen to no longer include them as a feature. If you wish to optimize your page for a keyword we would recommend using the focus keyword feature of the Yoast SEO Premium plugin.

We have an article which explains in further detail why we didn’t recommend using them, and why they were disabled by default at the following link: https://yoast.com/meta-keywords/
