I have the same issue where I need the flexibility of being able to have any alphanumeric value for the invoice numbers. I would also appreciate it if this was reverted, or reintroduced as a feature in the future.
Unfortunately many of my existing orders already are using this plugin so I’ll either need to do custom development or never update the plugin to keep my existing invoice numbers.
I had the same issue, try pressing escape? It got me out of the screen where only the shipping date is highlighted
