maybe the link is broke/corrupt
you can fix it by go to dashboard > setting > media , and fill the store uploads box with default- wp-content/uploads
the wordpress 3.0 default is allowing the excerpt with the image, only if the image is at the excerpt area.
when the image is outside the excerpt area, the excerpt post won’t showed the image.
how can i make it automate, when i add an image(anywhere at post) it will be showed at the excerpt.
