Ah, that was a great troubleshooting tool.
So, what I found out was that email sent to outside domains (not that site) worked fine, but inside that domain, not at all. Knowing that was then not a CForms or WP error, I dug deeper. Seems there were some missing MX and TXT records. Once I added those in, all is well.

I never configured the direct SMTP functionality.
