I tried something else and it worked, not sure why.
The slides were made with Power Point but exported into a large continuous PDF file. I had inserted them into a page on the website. I went to the Document Gallery, copied the URL for the document that was there, went to the page to edit it in WordPress, clicked on the link that I had inserted into the page and replaced the URL that was there by pasting the one I had just copied into the little box, ostensibly the same URL. But then it worked!!
I”ll save the instructions you’ve listed above in case I need them.
