Fixed thanks to STDestiny via themes and templates.
1/went to the FTP site
2/chose from the directory the offending error file,
3/backdated it by one day [using History] and
4/saved with a ‘1’ at the end.
5/went back to current files, renamed the error file with a ‘2’.
6/renamed the ‘1’ file by deleting the ‘1’.
7/ error disappeared, and site is back up and running.

However – I can’t get into the Editor to change the code now.
Can’t get into appearance/editor, or into XML-Sitemap…
Any ideas of How do I fix that if I can’t get into the code?
