Unfortunately, if it is too big to be received, you can’t use the email part of the plugin. It’s an issue with your email provider.
Best thing to do is either local backups manually and download them, or go to our online vault.

When you say 92%, that could be anywhere in the backup depending on your server. Can you be more specific, and refer to the event log for example to see what it was last doing? What is the message above the progress bar also, does it say it is doing something?
Has it stopped now? Or still there? How long did the backup run for before it got to that point? Seconds or minutes?

Hi Pierre,
Please post your own topic for your issue. It is nothing like the issue for this topic. The issue is highly likely that your web space ran out during backup. If you have 50 MB site it will need just short of 50 MB free to create a backup. This is most common cause of that error

If you have very big files it can cause the problem. Sometimes need to be excluded. We have a diagnostics version:

Just need to save this, compress it, and email to support “at” backup-technology.co.uk and we can diagnose the timeouts. Mention my name and link to this topic so we can locate it.

The trace log you sent shows a Filesystem operation failed. Maybe due to space (the database was 92MB dump and it needed to compress it, and that’s when it failed). It tries to compress to a tmp folder and I think it was too big to do it.
Did you get the unknown error at all because I couldn’t see that in the log?

Can you try one thing. Can you create a new blog post, and schedule it to publish automatically in say, a few hours time. See if the post publishes.
One common cause of this issue is WordPress cannot schedule events. Thus the scheduled publishing won’t work either.

Compression is used automatically when enabled. There is no option to stop it at the moment.
For the local backup unknown problem, we’d like to diagnose if you are willing. We have a plugin version that creates a log file you can email to us:

If you go Help & Support you can download it (there is a link at the bottom – right-click Save target as or something). Just reproduce the issue, download the trace.log, then compress it in a ZIP file and email it to us: support “at” backup-technology.co.uk. If you email support “at” backup-technology.co.uk your username for online backup they will usually increase your quota free of charge so you can upload more than 100MB – usually they give 250MB if you ask nicely 🙂
For the unknown error – what is the last message in the event log before it happens? So we can see where abouts the problem occurs. If you go to Activity Log and click View Events on the failed backup it will show the event log.

We discovered a routing problem in the data centre that affected the WordPress backups and registration page. All other traffic routed around but this traffic didn’t. This was fully resolved Saturday and preventative measures added. Apologies for any inconvenience.

We discovered a routing problem in the data centre that affected the WordPress backups. All other traffic routed around but the WordPress traffic didn’t. This was fully resolved Saturday and preventative measures added. Apologies for any inconvenience.
Backups should work as normal now.
