I’m taking a look at a JavaScript library “Masonry”, but I may well be in over my head, so a plugin or something would certainly be welcome.

I could live with some clearly laid out JavaScript trickery, or a plugin with a one-time cost of up to $50.

I will certainly try that, but someone asked essentially the same question there 3 years and 3 months ago, and there has been no reply from anyone so far.

I actually have this tentatively worked out now, so I’ll come back if I run into complications.

That sounds pretty reasonable. It’s just about inevitable that I’ll resort to some odd plugin or add some HTML and CSS at some point, but I may as well keep that to a minimum.
