I’ve been tackling this problem for two days. Tried the MySQL standard mode option suggested elsewhere, it worked once, then never again.

In the end I tried what was suggested above: remove the tag pages…and so far it’s magically working again.

Not sure why the problem is related to tags, but if you’re stuck like I was, try unticking the include tag option.

Just a follow up on this, I had exactly the same problem, deleting the plugin made zero difference + there was no server move *NOR* upgrade, it just started happening (note I’m on my own box, there was no background changes either). The trick was to delete the contents of the cache directory…all of it, and bam, everything works again…I’d I’ll never, ever use WP-Cache again as long as I live 🙂

Oh, and it’s not really a matter for me to contact my host, I’m running my own dedicated box through a hosting firm. They do provide a lot of support, but not down to the sql db error stage.

this plugin was released about 4 months ago, I’d be interested in knowing how people are finding it, and whether the translation is up to scratch

depending on how much they are stealing but I’d suggest its content theft.

I’d note that if they are using a small chunk of your material as part of a bigger story (literally quoting you in context) and crediting you, its fair use.

Simple definition: scum use scripts that rip (steal) content from other blogs and automatically post it on their blogs. The post it on their blogs for one of two reasons:
Revenue from advertising on the blog or
Search Engine Optimisation (basically the blog exists only to link to other sites but its got to look good to get the google juice happening).

some link back to the original site, some dont (yes, some thieves are more honorable than others 🙂 )

I’m cant remember what the rules are here for linking to your own content so I won’t, but type in “content theft” into the search box at The Blog Herald (www.blogherald.com) and you’ll see some of the recent stories and cretins I’ve covered.

    Thanks Podz
I thought it might be the way I was describing it that was preventing me finding what I was after. The first link…Im not sure what that is, but the second link looks good, but the plugin site had its account suspended.

Anyhow, thanks though, at least if got the term sorted, should have some more luck now.

I’ve just been playing with this script and you need to paste the RSS feed created by refeed into the WP plugin for it. The error message relates to it being unable to be found.

Long day trying to get a CSS 3 column WP theme to render properly in Internet Explorer… but I’ll leave that for another thread.

I’m not bitching and I’m offended by what you’ve written, its fairly simple: I prefer the old search results to the new ones, they provided more contextual results and were more recent and relevant, if you dont like that, bite me, because at the end of the day I can’t for the life of me think as to why the forum gurus changed the old method when it worked so well. The net result in going to be MORE people asking MORE questions that have already been answered because people can’t find the info from the hundreds of results presented under the new search method.

How does the old saying go: “If you’re on a good thing, stick to it”
<strike>Hope thats constructive enough for you, or would you prefer shorter words so you can understand me better?</strike>

I’d note but unlike the other guy I’ve always loved these forums, even if its now really, really hard to find relevant, recent information

Its not wordpress, I’d guess its the host, they aren’t particularly large images and they should load more quickly than this.

Got to say I’m not happy with the new search results at all, mainly because they don’t prioritize the more recent stuff, I’ve been looking for a few things and its bringing up 18 month old posts in first spot, please, please go back to the old search facility, sure, it wasn’t perfect but at least the results were fresh and normally relevant.

Hard to get to the top 100 though, I use to be closer but the big guys keep getting bigger more quickly.

I thought this is what it said but couldn’t work it out because there was no line 27, then it dawned on me….whitespace after the>, indeed 4 lines of it.

    thanks as always macmanx
