There are no issues with your reference website.

I found out that my images are 1600px on the largest side. When I use smaller images e.g. 1000px, there is no issue.

It could be the theme, but the issue arose after upgrading to WordPress 6.9. There was no update for the theme. I use Wide Range Lite.

The issue can be seen on a regular ipad also.

I will post a question on the PhotoSwipe site also.
