thought id add an example,
on this page on my site –

if you click on the first title Berklee College Of Music, I clicked on the link sign and added the link as http://www.berklee.edu but instead when you click on the text it takes you to a 404 error as its linked within my site –
http://youareguitar.com/top-5-u-s-music-colleges/www.berklee.edu
