Thanks but that answer just doesn’t make any sense to me. Surely there must be some simpler provision in WP to simply “start over” if you realized the THEME you selected really isn’t working out.
Can anyone suggest an alternative simpler solution?

Thank you — I’m just trying to go back to the virgin/native platform I had when I first installed WP. I’m trying to wipe the slate clean to start over.
