Your are right but it should be easiest to the admin works customizing directly in the restricted section. it would be a really good new feature.
As you have fixed the restricted section to guest and users, i modified the custom message directly with 2 sections one hidden until payment received and another showing the custom message, and will be hidden after payment is received. it works well for me.

i think the request is if you could include a box or something like this in each restricted page to customize the default info message to guest and users. for example native language is Spanish, but default message is in English, so i cant change the language nor the message.

i have used two restricted section at the same page, one to hide purchased product and another one to show information regarding purchasing instruction.
