Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [GigPress] Linking Theme StylesheetAlso, the page where the Gigpress lives is http://erinjackson.net/tour4/
Until I am able to make it look better with the site I’m using the tour plugin from the theme designer. The drawback is that it doesn’t accommodate multi-day events. You have to enter them each manually and when I’m gone for a month(s) at a time, it just isn’t feasible. I definitely prefer Gigpress.
Thanks again
Hi therr, it’s me again. I’m hoping you’ll be wiling to help me more in-depth, as I thought this problem had been resolved but it is back.
Before I resolved this ticket, a tech support person at my hosting company stopped the 500 errors by pointing my website to my blog folder. It screwed up all my links but I was able to do a search and replace for images and such. However, I didnt realizet until yesterday tha all the links from my blog to files in my www folder and the folders within it (/epk, /media, etc.) no longer work. The files were there but it was rendering a 404 error as if the paths weren’t valid.
I had a friend help me by figuring out what she did and pointing the site back to my www folder, but now the 500 errors have returned. You ment I Ned before that you might be willing to look deeper at how to resolve this issue. If that offer is still on the table, I’d really appreciate your help. I am truly at the end of what I know how to do and the resources I’ve been able to find online.
Thank you
Also, whatever she changed also changed where I log into my admin. Instead of http://erinjackson.net/blog/wp-login.php?redirect_to=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.erinjackson.net%2Fwp-admin%2F&reauth=1 it’s now: http://erinjackson.net/wp-login.php?redirect_to=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.erinjackson.net%2Fwp-admin%2F&reauth=1. I know there has been a fundamental change that I’d like undone. I just didn’t know how to tell them what it is.
Good morning,
Sigh. I spoke with the hosting company and they ran a scan. I deleted the files they recommended. there was an old WP installation i used for a demo/beta site that I had forgotten all about, so they think this is where the attack began.
They also redirected the folder to which my site or database was pointed. (or something like that) I don’t know how it got changed but they believe that was the nexus of the problem. The bad files are gone and finally the errors. I think we’re good for now and i can schedule backups again so i don’t have to go thru this again! Thank you so very much for all your help, because of you i now know how to access my logs.
thanx,
ErinThat shouldn’t be hard, it happens with every click on the site if/when you can even get in.
Thank you James. I deactivated all plugins and the error persists (I have since reactivated). And I was able to switch back to the twenty fifteen theme and that didn’t help either. I renamed the .htaccess to .htaccess_1 and that didn’t help, I then out it back as .htaccess.
I do not know how to access my server logs, but my hosting company tech support opens at 9am so I will try then and ask them to help me find them and report back. I really appreciate all your help.
One more ? if you don’t mind: could file permissions be something I need to look at as well? I keep seeing that mentioned but I don’t know if i should be changing them?
Hi James,
I was able to get back in and scan using the app “Anti-Malware from GOTMLS.NET.”I repaired the two known threats and replaced the files in “core file changes” by overwriting to my ftp from a fresh wp 4.4 install. But my site is still returning that error. I don’t know what else I should do next.
Thank you very much. I had read that page previously but I plan to try a new scan tool from that list when next I can access my wp-admin. Trying not to panic. I’ve done almost all of these things already. fingers crossed, there’s no way i can build my site from scratch again.
