Hi Kokkie, I am trying to avoid editing 200 pages individually. Is there a way to do it in bulk – for all of those kinds of project pages. The problem is, people are going to the individual project pages, upon searching for my stuff, but then not clicking on the articles.
Thank you.Thank you, I re-privatized that page, since it’s not ready.
Qu: to add the shortcode you suggest, i.e. the CSS, .jetpack-portfolio-shortcode .portfolio-entry-title {
font-size: 20px;
}
.jetpack-portfolio-shortcode .portfolio-entry-content {
font-size: 16px;
}exactly where would I place that CSS? in the Sketch theme editor – and if so, at the bottom, or top? or somehow within the page CSS.

Thanks Kathryn,
If you look at this page:https://www.elaineschattner.com/movies-tv-reviews-by-es/
in which I’ve got the short code [portfolio display_types=true display_tags=true include_type=reviews columns=3 showposts=12 orderby=desc]
you can see the problem with how it looks, gigantic font, etc.
The automatically-generated pages look OK/fine, but they don’t allow for explanations (like “click on the image to see the article”).
Maybe you can suggest how I might indicate the following info, which is crucial:
1.where these were published, for purposes of attribution. Not all are at one magazine, and for past and future content I need to be indicate that –
2. date of publication (such as month, year)Thank you, Elaine

In reply to: [Sketch] gorgeous look, but impossibly slow – I'm not sure whyHi Kathryn,
Based on your suggestion, I was able to figure out that the portfolio items are from the jetpack, and not theme-specific. That is what I wanted: a theme-independent portfolio setup. If I write again, it would be with questions about the theme fonts and stuff like that.Thank you for your help!

In reply to: [Sketch] gorgeous look, but impossibly slow – I'm not sure why1. My browser width is 1280 – I just checked using the link you supplied. What’s weird is that the other day it showed the words/page titles, now (and yesterday) it doesn’t; I checked that it’s fully open – closed and opened the window..
2. Here is a link to one of the portfolio pages:
https://www.elaineschattner.com/journalism/project-type/bc-screening/
again – there’s the issue of the two portfolio folders appearing on my dashboard; one, I think, is for “WP-Jetpack” and the other is for the theme? I’m concerned about that – because it was a lot of work to get in so many items, and I’m not done.3. I need to show “as seen in “publication X”, the dates…I tried using the shortcode the other day, but it seemed to work only with some Project types (I have a 3-tiered menu).
Is there a way you or someone at Automattic might help? (There’s only so much I can put on a forum.) I’ve received a few emails, from people having seen this convo – but IME unless people really know a theme it’s not helpful and can cause damage.
Thank youForum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: [Sketch] gorgeous look, but impossibly slow – I'm not sure whyHi Kathryn,
I have the site, http://www.elaineschattner.com in decent shape now. (And I like how it looks.) The problem is there are two portfolio folders, one of which I emptied deliberately, and the other into which I inserted about half of the stuff I wish to include (so far).It’s a little confusing – I think one of the portfolio folders is from “jetpack” and the other is with the theme, but it’s not entirely obvious which goes with which.
current issues:
1. how to show portfolio items with more annotations (and is it possible to add text below the header, above the items, in each portfolio page?
2. is there a way to put a link icon or something like that – to customize the portfolio items, and to show certain data, such as date?
3. menu – upper right – can’t get it to consistently show words instead of small lines; it keeps switching.I will deal with the font later, but for now, these are the main issues. Thank you, ES

In reply to: [Sketch] gorgeous look, but impossibly slow – I'm not sure whyHi Kathryn,
I spent the day (more like 24 hours) on this – am heading off for a while now. That font doesn’t help, but it didn’t prove limiting. But after a lot of trial and error, I think the ultimate block had to do with the custom menu with links to social media. When I removed that (among other things). After I created that 2 days ago seemed to be when things got really bad.) Now the site: http://www.elaineschattner.com is working better. I need yet to finish the portfolio.1. I may ask you for help, if you don’t mind, with changing fonts (but that is not urgent). If there’s a simple way to make it smaller, please let me know.
2. I am trying to customize the portfolios by subject, and to have each show a thumbnail, title, excerpt…But I can’t get it to show the date of publication. Is there a way of indicating – for all “project” type posts, i.e. projects – to show date, and certain other attributes?Thank you,
ESThe JetPack staff is off until Jan 4; there seems to be nothing relevant on the forum there. http://jetpack.me/support/
So the Jetpack forum is separate from WP? OK, I will search for that. TY, ES
Hi,
I’m trying to display a portfolio (or multiple portfolios, featuring different types of work) on my website. I have the avada theme, which sets up portfolio objects in an avada-specific way, which isn’t working well. So I’m setting up new portfolio objects using the WP jetpack. The problem is, I can’t seem to display the portfolios. The instructions for the Jetpack portfolio items refer only to wordpress.com hosted sites, and mine is self-hosted. Please advise.
Thank you,

In reply to: [Editor] Social Media Widgetsp.s. I changed it back to -250 default – doesn’t seem to make a difference in Chrome, and the icons look OK on my i-phone.

In reply to: [Editor] Social Media WidgetsHi Array,
Thank you. I like the WP fixed icons look. Everything with the installation was easy, except that I couldn’t see the icons (after clearing cache, etc.)When I realized it had a default setting of -250 px margin, I changed that to a positive number (250px). THen they appeared, but too low down. I tried moving them up (e.g. margin 125 px), but they’re stuck. It’s probably an issue with my browser, or the plugin. When I have time, I will work on it again.
Thanks!

In reply to: [Editor] Social Media WidgetsHi “Array,”
That looks pretty good (nice, really), but I fear it would steer viewers away from my content (such as what will be info on my book, other stuff…)Maybe I can set up a social page, and have floating icons on that one alone. Is there a way to gridify one page, that I could fill it with widgets, such as to my old blog, and the kinds of things I’d put in the sidebar?
Thanks,
Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: [Editor] Social Media WidgetsI tried some of the floating links, but it ruined the simplicity of the look. Is there a plan to add icons (or widget-space) to the main sidebar?

In reply to: [Editor] Social Media WidgetsHi,
Love the theme. Ty.I’m trying to add social media widgets, & possibly 1-2 links, onto the sidebar (like @ahq above). Alternatively, is is possible to label what looks like a folder on the upper left, so that an ordinary reader would know to look there for more stuff (e.g. social media icons and links to other work?) Thank you, ES
