btw, when I contacted hostgator customer support about it,
at some point I thought “mhmm, maybe there’s an existing
database that’s causing a problem” – I asked them about it,
and their response was that there was no such database.
“piwik” as the database name I guess should’ve been a clue;-)

Hey there,
the 2nd link you sent almost fixed it – in the end I had to delete the 2 entries in the options-table AND remove the entire piwik database from the server.
now it works fine – thanks for your help, I appreciate it!
