I needed a chat functioning on the site. So I had to go with another product after you did not answer for a week. They wanted to see how it works before upgrading to pay for it.
I was using the current version and all of my them and WordPress files were current and yes I tried disabling the plugins before contacting.

Same issue. <a> tag displaying — so I am not able to link to the page

I was able to use the built in linking settings in my case to make it work.
