In reply to: wordpress xml import showing up as .txtActually I am moving from one wordpress.com site to another wordpress.com site. Actually – it’s the same site with a new domain name and design. I tried support through wordpress.com and ended up here. So I’m feeling a little lost. Don’t know who to contact for help!

In reply to: wordpress xml import showing up as .txtMy XML is only 356k – pretty small considering I have a number of images (?) – probably around 15-20. There are around 50 posts. I’m not worried about losing the images, I have most of them in my media library. I just want to restore the text and links.

In reply to: wordpress xml import showing up as .txtYes, that is exactly what’s happening. I am picking the WordPress option, then I’m prompted for authors, I choose them, and submit. I believe I exported the file from the same domain name that I am importing into. Could that be the problem?

In reply to: wordpress xml import showing up as .txtHmmm. I’m pretty sure that’s what I’ve been doing although I have never seen a prompt for a plugin. These are the steps I’ve taken – Admin>Tools>Import> then I’m prompted to browse and upload. I choose the .xml file and upload. I keep getting a successful import message from WordPress. But either the file shows up in the media browser or not at all. Is it supposed to show up as a page?
