Still no joy with this. They now tell me that for whatever reason they upgraded WP to v.3.8 (without asking!). Could this be the problem? Is the plugin compatible with 3.8? According to the plugin page it is only compatible up to 3.7.1.
Right, they say it’s “fixed”, I have no idea what they did, but the dashboard simply will not show itself on the wP dashboard. I’ve uninstalled, re-installed, reset, etc. etc. No joy.
Does your plugin require a particular PHP version? They just tell me they reset the PHP to 5.2, but will not tell me why…Ok, thanks. Just did, we’ll see what they come back with. They did indeed have problems with the mysql servers, but that took them a a good few hours of downtime to admit to…

In reply to: Cannot see WP standard themesyes, indeed. We cannot take down http://www.minoan-properties.com or change the DNS now. That would be ideal, but it is the owner’s livelyhood, so we can’t do that.

In reply to: Cannot see WP standard themeshttp://www.minoan-properties.com is currently a working site which cannot be taken down until its replacement is ready. The replacement is to be built in WordPress, on a different server. The idea was to build the new site, and once ready simply point the DNS at the new servers.
So, after installing WP with indeed the http://www.minoan-properties.com URL, we added define WP_HOME and define WP_SITEURL, both with http://minoan-properties.com.mocha3013.mochahost.com/ to the wp-config.php which allowed us to finalise the install and start working, or so we thought. The result is as described above. I would have thought this would work, or am I that far off the mark?Rob has done an outstanding job in solving this problem for me. Cannot praise this enough, absolutely excellent. Thorough, fast, courtious and even cleans up after him 🙂 I’ll leave this open until you get sorted as well.
details left, thanks

In reply to: [Slideshow] Where is my slideshow?Meanwhile, I think I have found the problem. It seems to have to do with DirectoryPress indeed, although they haven’t bothered getting back to me on this (or anything else for that matter.) Finding a solution to the problem will require them getting involved, so it looks like we’ll be waiting for this. I’ll start hassling them again…

In reply to: [Cnhk Slideshow [ENDED]] CNhK slideshow and 3.6 not workingI was using 3.6 at the time, and it just didn’t work. So I replaced it with the “Simple Slide Show manager”, which needed a little tweaking. that was sorted by the authors within an hour or so, and is now happoly humming away, doing exactly what it says in the name, it’s simple. So my problem is solved. the plugin obviously still has a problem.

In reply to: [Slideshow] Where is my slideshow?I have reinstalled it, and no joy. What bugs me most it as it shows the slideshow, it must be stored somewhere. But where? If I could get at the slideshow to edit it, then we could at least use it. At the moment we can, but it has to be perfect before publishing it, because we can’t go back and edit. the widget function also does not work in the current set-up. I’m waiting (still!) for the makers of the theme (DirectoryPress) to come back to me and see if they can shed any light on this.

In reply to: [Slideshow] Where is my slideshow? When I create a slideshow, the system tells me it is going to save the post type as “slideshow”, but it doesn’t. I can edit this setting to “posts”, “Pages”, “media”, “FAQ”, or “articles”. But slideshows are not in the list thus not recognized as a post format??? I can save the slideshow in any format listed in the drop down list, but not as a “slideshow”…

In reply to: [Slideshow] Where is my slideshow? No, I’ve disabled every single plugin, including all the security stuff and just had the slideshow activated. the moment I click “publish” it immediately cretes a post, and upon double checking the slide show listing, the show just created (which cretes the listing) is not in the list. As far as the system goes, there is no slideshow…

In reply to: Can't add images to pagesThank you for jogging the memory. I hadn’t even installed the theme, we don’t use it. We use a theme called DirectoryPress. Got on the them, and it was fixed within a couple of minutes. Needed to replace two bits of JS and all is fine. Thanks for getting back.

In reply to: new userYes, I found that, but find it impossible to get my head around it… that’s exactly what has been doing my head in for 2 days…
Hi David,
I deactivated all the plugins, and activated them again, one by one. The culprit is the “admin username changer”.
thanks for getting back
