UPDATE: I had this same issue and deactivated a plugin called ‘Google Analyticator’ — by sidebars and editing capabilities came back.
I too am having oddities with the widget area and sidebars/footers not showing up. My site is http://www.teskaassociates.com. Specifically, when I log into the backend admin and click appearance>widgets, the sidebar and footer elements do not show up on the right side of the page. When I click appearance>customize to try and edit it in live view, I get a broken link that directs me to this: http://www.teskaassociates.com/wp-admin/customize.php?return=%2Fwp-admin%2Fplugin-install.php
I have tried troubleshooting in Chrome, Safari and Firefox and the sidebar and footer widget areas are hidden from view in all three browsers. Any help? Thanks in advance.
