Your reply pointed me in the right directions, under General Setup. Not the demo mode, but Hide Footer Widgets did the trick.

With twentyseventeen theme it worked perfectly.
i am using 4.9.8, but will update now to 5.
It unfortunately still doesn;’t work with Vega theme.
Error message in Mailchimp: https://agent.enroutetravelcanada.com/feed/ is not a valid RSS feed.Thanls,

I’ve changed the padding bit to 600px, and that gives the feature image the same height as the page banners.
