I got this error message after I set follow your suggestion.
I use Woocommerce + Woocommerce membership + Woocommerce subscription + WC_Gateway_PPEC

In reply to: [PayPal for WooCommerce] Paypal checkout express invalid payment methodI have same problem.
It works fine in sandbox mode but after change to LIVE mode the customer can not pay.
