Exactly that “so you are running out of memory in random places when Wordfence is disabled but not when it’s enabled?”
At this time all the options are disabled in WordFence, Caching is disabled as well.
In the error_log on the root of the server has these two entries at the end of the file. Maybe they might shed some light? The first one, occurs at a random time, while the second is generated after disabling the WF plugin.

I don’t quite follow: the memory error is just that WP core is trying to allocate a paltry amount of memory for running the site, this is the symptom.
There is a direct causal link between the site going down & disabling WordFence.
Anyways, I changed the theme to the default & it’s exactly it’s the same behaviour.Update:
1) Took the plunge and removed it, same result
2) Reinstalled, but not activated, same
3) Activated, site back…
