After I had implemented your solution, I stumbled upon another fix that doesn’t need a change in the code. You’ll have to schedule a post to be published today, at the time 23:59. In that way, the post is a future post for the entire day (except for the last minute of the day), and it will be shown in the list when you set the post status to future.
